When the holidays come around, finding gifts for the people we know who enjoy horses is one of the items on everyone's to-do list. The manager of the boarding barn, your riding buddies and even the person who cleans your horse's stall will all appreciate a token of your esteem at Christmas or on their birthdays. Instead of giving a mundane bit of horse equipment like a new brush or something, consider giving horse earrings!

There are many types of earrings to choose from. Horse stud earrings are great if your friend wants to wear them when riding, as they won't dangle and be a possible hazard. Since a lot of women have sensitive ears, consider 14K gold horse earrings or at the least, sterling silver earrings. These are less irritating to the skin.

When it comes to the design of the earrings, galloping horses are great. Rearing horses, bucking horses and horse heads are all popular choices in horse jewelry. A galloping horse on a dangling earring is especially fun! Or maybe a stud earring with a horse head that uses crystals for the eyes; these are all beautiful and intriguing options for horse earrings!

If you have a young girl to find earrings for, you might try some of the more caricature type of horses for earrings. They come in many different colors and poses, and are usually available at the boutique stores in the mall.

Horseshoes are frequently used for earrings too, and you can even find them with diamonds for luck. However a lot of these end up looking kind of cheesy, so be careful there. There's a fine line between elegance and tackiness.

Some earrings even have several different metals blended together to create beautiful effects. Imagine the mane of a horse in shiny silver, while the head and neck are in gold. Those would be beautiful! Another thing to look for is earrings that are definitely a distinctive horse breed. If your friend is especially interested in Belgian draft horses, for example, you could find an earring that is styled like that breed.

Enjoy the shopping for your horse gifts and be sure to get yourself something too!
